Howdy All!!

Mom is here visiting this week. Oh Lord it has not been boring so far! She was going to bring up her rollaway but it was in bad shape from being in storage. So after picking her up in Davenport (1 1/2 hours from here) we dropped her off with Sarah and headed over to the furniture store. I then had to run into Walmart to get a couple of things and when I got back in the car Dave said that he got a call saying Sarah was in the front yard and had somehow locked the screen door and couldn't get back in. My poor Mom was on our loveseat (it sits kinda low) and couldn't get up to help Sarah. They both were upset. We hurried home..but I guess Mom couldn't wait and called 911. We pulled up to a firetruck outside our house. My heart was going nuts till a couple of guys came out smiling. They said they cut a small space on the screen door and were able to get the lock undone. They then helped Mom up to a dining room chair. Sarah has gotten in trouble so many times for going outside without permission or not even asking at all. Then today Mom slid out of her bed and onto the floor. I had no idea (she is staying in Sarah's room) and she didn't say a word to Dave when he was up and getting ready for work. Sarah slept through most of it I guess. She can't get onto her knees at all...so she needed to be lifted up. I have a bad back so I couldn't do it by myself, so I had Dave come home and help me get her up then he headed back to work. I love her..but dang is she alot of work! :hehe: I have a feeling it's going to be a looooon week! Pray for us girls!! :D

Too funny... we got to AZ and it was hotter than H*ll! We were driving from up north after a few days (north is heavenly as it is pine and higher elevation) and hit Phoenix. I'd like to have gotten back in the car after a short visit with a friend on our way to see family and driven right back out of there! Anyhow the weather became much cooler and rainy and tolerable over the days there. We were at a bank during the visit and the gal looked at my drivers license and said "oh you are from the east... i bet you get nicer weather there! I said Yes we do... wasn't it nice of me to bring some of it with us! :D

Had a good visit. We all know how God works! We received a phone call that our house has a firm buyer. We've been trying to sell it for the last year or so and here we are arriving there and we get the call. We close on it next week! We signed paperwork and hopefully worked through the last SNAFU with it while there. Tim was able to get out there and do a bit of work to restart our well and get some clean up done.

Hey Gals!

It is always too quiet here!!!!!! Nothing much is doing in our neck of the woods. Kids start back at school in a few weeks. We're pretty settled in. Just need to unpack the basement stuff that is mostly stored. I just want to go through it to see if we WANT to keep any of it. Kids are finally enjoying it here. They LOVE having the yard and having my folks next door. My parents have gotten used to having 2 rambunctious kids back in their house! Lol. They are really loving it as well.

Hope everyone's having a great summer!

Great Renee... thanks for bringing us back here!!!

We started our life with 8 kids. They are working a waiver so we can have all 8 here all the time. We are not allowed to have all our kids sleep here (6 at a time) until the waiver comes through. Tim took 2 of our kids to our "cottage" a few hours away and a friend of ours will have the girls over starting tomorrow night.

K and J were with us 6 months ago and are back now. We will likely adopt them. This is the best decision for them and until the other 3 go back home we will have the 8.... keep us in your prayers.

Tired as hell right now... gotta go to sleep!

Renee~So you moved into your parents home and your parents live next door? Glad that you are settled.

It's been very hot and humid here but we FINALLY got a break in the weather yesterday. I opened all the windows and let some fresh air in. Today is absolutely perfect.

Last week my boys started football. We've done shoe shopping and have most of the school supplies. I go back to work on the 30th and my kids start on the 1st and 2nd of Sept. Can't believe how quick the summer went by.

Things have been good though. My dh has been steady at work and it looks like that will continue through the Fall. We didn't get in any camping at all this summer and I'm so bummed about that. I was just checking some camp grounds and we may go in Sept.

Well, I need to scoot.

It truly seems like such a short time ago that I was taking my oldest child to kindergarten, yet tomorrow I register this same kid as a freshman in high school. Where in the world did all these years go. I'm feeling a bit sad.

Renee~That's nice to live so close to your parents.

Got myself up and going at 7:00. I've had the leisure of sleeping til 9:00 most of the summer but all that's over now. Back to routine. Canned some tomoteos already. My task for the day is to get dd's room cleaned. She's such a packrat. :D

It's overcast and in the 70's. Loving it. Looks like temps are going to go up as the week goes on. Not sure if the humidity will be back. Hope not. I guess it won't be long before I'm complaining about the cold, eh. :D

Maria - Joe was just saying that last night...soon we'll be complaining about the cold! Lol.

We've really not bronken routine too much this summer. There was the occassional late night for the kids, but not too many because my kids will wake up with the roosters no matter what time they go to bed. So in the best interest of my sanity, they go to bed at bedtime and we're up and at 'em at the crack of dawn. The one difference will be having to be dressed, etc. But here it is 8:39 and I feel like I've done a days work already! Lol.

Gonna go weed the garden before it rains! :loser:

Morning All!

We had a few really great days of relief from summer....it was cool and low 60's! Mostly it rained, but it was such a tease! back to the heat and humidity and right in time we are having our a/c replaced! Thankfully! It's been a LONG summer with such an inefficient cooling source!

Yesterday Alex and I went to his school for "new student orientation"! It was great. He met his teacher, saw his classroom and got a brief tour of the school. We got the bus schedule and all the neccessary info. I'm so excited for him! I bet on Monday I will be crying! Lol.

Joe is off the next few days so we can enjoy some family time that doesn't involve moving, unpacking or home projects! Lol. Been a long summer!!!!

Wow Renee.... Alex is moving right along. For a minute there I was thinking Benjamin. Oh my. Not yet! Yep cooler days here are a blessing for sure so we can move a little bit lighter on our feet doing the day to day stuff!

We are moving through a transition. The paperwork that our agency was looking to get that would have allowed the 8 kids in our home did not come through... we have kept our census at 6 during the night to keep in compliance. We planned to continue until the paperwork came in but there have been glitches that won't allow that it appears so they are moving 3 of our kids and it seems still waiting on the paperwork. The 3 will be going to my friends home and she is being set up to take them as an emergency placement. She and i are both nervous about this because her home is not a calm and ready place for 3 little ones. She has them sometimes for a few hours and manages there but mostly she has them here when I need help. It's really nervewracking too. They have not even done clearances on her household (except for her) yet and they are planning to move the kids there Monday. They haven't even checked her home and with two of her kids being high needs as it is w/o adding 3 babies it's not in good shape. I can't say I'm liking this wholly except that it will calm our home down. The 3 foster babies are supposed to move "home" to live with mom late October or November but it's not a firm date. I wish they'd just leave them here but I know we will be calmer here w/o them. OH well.

Woke up to a boy in my bed who came over to sleep and pee'd on me. GRRR! That was 4 a.m. not happy about that one but with school beginning, kids moving around and all the chaos I guess it's just part of the deal right now for him to be feeling it all too.

I know I have been MIA.

I cannot believe that Cora is 6 years old and in Kindergarten! Where did my baby go? She doesn't like kindergarten. She says it is boring. They are mostly reviewing so it is things she already knows. They will start homework next week so I think it will start to get more challenging. I did talk to some other kindergartner's mothers and they told me their kids are saying the same thing. I know she likes specials (P.E,.library, art, etc.). They do have P.E. twice a week and I like that. She has 4 friends she plays with outside. I know who 3 of them are.

I am still doing Zumba once a week. I am trying to do it twice a week but I don't think I can swing it. Cora has gymnastics once a week. She is starting to whine about going because she cannot do the butterfly on the bar like some of the other girls. I try and tell her she just needs to practice and she will be able to do it. I am hoping she will stick with it. I want her to learn to not quit when things don't go the way she wants them to. I let her quit ballet, tap and cheer. I am putting my foot down now. She has got to learn. Do you think I am being too harsh? Once we got there she did O.K.
