Wow. Scary, heart breaking, tragic....that's a lot rolled up into one moment. I'm glad that you got to see and enjoy the culture, though.

Sue, Congratulations on your new little girl! We just welcomed two toddlers into our family from Haiti so I can completely empathize with that aspect of things. I am so happy for your new addition! God bless!

thanks, chili mom...i hope things are going well for you and your new additions. so happy for your family! i hope they are adjusting well? helena is doing really great. few issues here and there, but to be expected, of course. it's hard, too, at this age to read them since they are in the "terrible 2s" and constantly at odds with you anyway. lol. but, she's such a loving girl and has weathered everything that's come her way. she and her big sister are becoming two peas in a pod...they get along so well...i just sit back and watch them sometimes. and even when a cat fight erupts it's hard not to tear up knowing that they are together, sisters, and comfortable enough now to fight like any other siblings and makeup afterward. such an unbelievable miracle to get to be a very tiny part of.
it's been pretty crazy since we got home. we decided to put our house on the market right away and so march-april we sold ours and found a new one...signed by apr 30 and just moved in last week! loving the extra space. the girls can run free now and they both seem really happy. of course, we felt bad moving helena yet again. four moves in a year for her. but, now she's finally HOME and we can all start out here together. : )

now i think we're ALL hoping for a quiet rest of the summer to unpack and settle in and do "normal" non-adoption-related things for awhile. lol. it's quite a ride.

and now, just want to focus on supporting the orphanage and helping the other waiting families here thru their journies!!
